We’ve all been there. Runs where the miles feel like marathons and you don't know how you will make it home
I know there have been countless times in the last three years where I’ve contemplated calling Kory and having him come pick me up a when I’ve been a few miles away from home and felt like I couldn’t take another step.
Luckily, I am a highly logical person and realize loading two kids in the car and driving to the middle of a corn field is not worth the effort.
So I’ve had to come up with other methods to break through the metaphorical wall and make it back home. Running mantras have really helped me focus on something other than the discomfort continuing to run causes me and has allowed me to finish those hard runs.
My personal favorite is ‘Forward is a Pace’, but sometimes I change it up and use ‘You’ve done it before, you can do it again’.
There are hundreds of websites with examples of running mantras. Find one that speaks to you and use it when the road in front of you looks too long to conquer.
It might not get you a PR that run, but it will teach your body and mind to run through the uncomfortable!
